Seventh Bowl

How it works

The ceremony is unchanged. The vessels on the table notice how they are handled, and a live generative music set answers them. Nothing is cabled to the table, and nothing on it looks unusual.

What the vessels notice

VesselIt noticesYou hear
The brewing vessel, a gaiwan or a small clay potEach new infusionA new scene opens
PitcherHow the tea is pouredThe whole sound shifts with the pour
Four cupsEach lift and each sipWhile a cup is raised, the music thins out and you listen to the tea

For venues

  1. Everything is wireless and travels with us, including our own network, so the venue's wifi is not used.
  2. The venue provides power, a table and seating.
  3. The music is generated live by Greg Orca's set and played into the room.
  4. A tech rider with setup times and space needs is available on request.

Photographs of the table and the setup follow the first listening on 3 November.
